Timely renewal of Iqama or Muqeem card is essential so that you continue to live legally in Saudi Arabia.

If you are living in Saudi Arabia and have the card already then it can be used for five years.
But if you are having an expired Iqama then your Muqeem card will be sent to you via courier or the Saudi post.

What All To Take Care of If Your Iqama Is Expired?

Check for violation

In case the sponsor is not able to renew he has to submit equal Iqama renewal fee. In fact, the fee is two times more for any other kind of violation. Also if there are three violations of the resident, then you may have to depart to your home country. So check for any kind of violations and ensure that there is none.

Take note of your bank account

If your Iqama or Muqeem card is expired, then your Saudi Arabia account and remittance center accounts will be frozen. Thereby it is necessary that you take all the money out before the expiry of Iqama card. But if you wish that your bank account or remittance account doesn’t get a freeze, then submit the copy of your new Muqeem card timely.

Time of renewal

It is essential that you get your Iqama or Muqeem card renewed at least 3 days before it get expired.

Fees for renewal

The Iqama/Muqeem renewal fee is generally SR 650 and renewal fee of family members or dependents more than 18 years is SR 500.

If you have a company

In case you have a company which comprises of less than 50% of Saudi’s then you have to pay SR 2400 for labor office. But in case you have a small company then the fees can be exempted for four emigrants.

The medical test

You have to appear for medical test for Muqeem renewal if you are from residents from the countries including Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Once all the necessary things are done it is the responsibility of your sponsor to collect old Iqama and get the new printout within two working days. You need to ensure that your sponsor has given you a letter mentioning that your renewal process is in progress. Till the time you have to attach the old copy of Iqama with this letter as it will serve as temporary Iqama until the new one arrives.
